St Lucia Estuary
ISimangaliso Wetlands Park
Current Conditions
18 November 2015
Point Off Reference
Wind must be blowing 110km/h to blow the water away up stream.
The sad fact is there is just not enough water in the system to sustain water displacement even 30km/h wind brings to the table.
We can not look past the fact that in the absent of an active management plan gross misconduct has taken place. Sediment that was brought in with the iMfollozi River, which has no filtration system since 1938, was left un attended.
This is clearly a matter for the powers to be to investigate. The Great Plan for The wondrous iSimangaliso Wetlands Park has failed. We need intervention and we need it now!!!
This is a disaster that could have been avoided if more attention was paid to detail.
