iSimangaliso Wetlands Park's Western Shores is ablaze since last night. This morning it was clear that it jumped the R618 at the entrance of St Lucia Estuary during the night.
Smoke is still seen on the Western Shores and a thin layer of black ash is blown around in the streets of St Lucia Estuary. Still have no official statement on why the fire started and how did it end up burning the Western Shores down almost all the way to Fanies Island.
