Road works almost complete

Frustrating stop-go signs along the N2 north of Empangeni will soon be a thing of the past

Dave Savides

THE R2.7-million upgrade of the N2 north of Empangeni should be completed by the end of the month.
The SA National Roads Association contract, which began from the Canefields exit to the R102 and extends to Umfolozi, involves rehabilitation, resurfacing and road marking.
It has necessitated stop-go sections which have been onerous to road users but the good news is that the brand new road, which fell behind schedule by a month due to adverse weather, will soon be completed.
According to a SANRA spokesperson, the work has been 'dangerous', with some accidents mainly due to driver negligence and impatience.
On the positive side, a number of jobs were created.
